J.Lindeberg Size Guide

J.Lindeberg is regular fit across the whole range, so take your normal size - the clothing, the gloves and everything else. The accessories are One Size, which means exactly that. This guide gives the EU to UK conversion, explains why you should not size up to layer even though much of the range is designed for layering, and tells you what to expect from the compression pieces.

Does J.Lindeberg Run Big or Small?

Neither. J.Lindeberg is true to size. Every product at Union 22 carries the Regular Fit indicator, so order the size you normally wear.

That holds right across the range, which is broader than people expect: the tour polos and mid layers, the down jackets and parkas, the t-shirts and shorts, and the accessories. One answer covers all of it.

J.Lindeberg sits between golf performance and city outerwear, and the brand's own copy calls that the bridge. The sizing does not change when you cross it. A Tour Tech polo and an Alon down parka are both regular fit.

The Union 22 Fit System

Every product page at Union 22 carries one of three fit indicators. It is an instruction about sizing, not a description of the style:

REGULAR FIT - TAKE YOUR NORMAL SIZE
True to size, no adjustment. This is the label on every J.Lindeberg product we carry, from the polos to the parkas.
SLIM FIT - SIZE UP ONE
The garment cuts close and needs the size above. No J.Lindeberg product carries this indicator.
BIG FIT - SIZE DOWN ONE
The piece comes up large and needs the size below. No J.Lindeberg product carries this indicator.

J.Lindeberg Size Conversion: Clothing

The clothing sizes on the Italian scale, where the number is roughly your half chest in centimetres. Every piece at Union 22 is listed with both, for example EU 50 / L UK.

J.Lindeberg / EUUKChest (inches)
EU 44XS34-36"
EU 46S36-38"
EU 48M38-40"
EU 50L40-42"
EU 52XL42-44"
EU 54XXL44-46"

Measure your chest under the arms across the fullest part, tape level and not pulled tight. J.Lindeberg grades in even sizes only. Not every piece is cut across the full run, so the size selector on each product shows what we hold in that one.

Gloves and Accessories

The gloves are regular fit too. The Rudd golf glove comes in M, M-L and L - take your normal glove size. It is a tour-grade glove in goat nappa leather cut for a second-skin fit, so it is supposed to feel close when new.

The Tilo beanie and the Rise neck gaiter are One Size. There is nothing to choose.

Should I Size Up to Layer?

No. Take your normal size even on the mid layers.

A good part of the J.Lindeberg range is built to be layered. The Finn and the Tour Tech quarter zips are designed to sit between a baselayer and a shell; the packable vests go over a polo; the Bridge Hybrid works as a mid or an outer depending on the weather.

The room for that is already built into the pattern. A mid layer designed to go over a polo has been cut to go over a polo. Sizing up on top of that gives you a garment that is loose rather than layerable, and on a technical piece that costs you the fit the fabric was engineered around.

The same applies to the outerwear. The Alvin, Daryl and Alon down pieces and the Clinton Hood are cut to go over a mid layer at your normal size.

The Compression Pieces Are Meant To Be Tight

The Ello Compression Top is the one piece in the range that will not feel like a regular fit when you put it on, and that is correct rather than a sizing error.

It is a compression garment: a high-stretch polyester and elastane knit that supports the muscles and wicks moisture, with flatlock seams so it sits flat under other layers. It is supposed to be close to the skin. If it felt like a t-shirt it would not be doing its job.

Take your normal size. Do not size up to make it more comfortable, because you will lose the compression and gain a baselayer that rucks under a mid layer.

What To Do If You Are Between J.Lindeberg Sizes

On the clothing, go up. J.Lindeberg grades in even sizes only, so there is nothing between a 50 and a 52 to fall into, and the larger of the two is the safer call on a technical piece that will be worn actively.

On the gloves, take your normal glove size. The M-L sits between the M and the L if that is what you usually wear.

On the compression top, take your true size rather than going up. Loose compression is not compression.
