Accessibility Statement
Accessibility Statement
Union 22 is committed to making www.union22.co.uk accessible to as many people as possible, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers or who navigate using a keyboard. We believe everyone should be able to browse and shop with us comfortably.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Our website is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Substantially conformant” means the site meets the standard across the great majority of its content, with a small number of minor exceptions noted below, which we are working to address.
What We Do to Support Accessibility
- Descriptive alternative text on product imagery, so screen reader users understand each item
- A “skip to content” link allowing keyboard users to bypass the navigation
- Clear, visible keyboard focus indicators throughout the site
- Semantic page structure and landmarks for assistive technologies
- Labelled forms with clear error messages
- Support for browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or function
- Compatibility with current versions of major browsers and screen readers
Accessibility Tools on This Site
Our website also includes an accessibility menu that lets you adjust your browsing experience. You can open it using the “Accessibility” link in the footer, or by pressing Ctrl + X. Available adjustments include larger text, increased letter spacing and line height, a dyslexia-friendly font, a larger cursor, colour and contrast filters, link highlighting, reading guides, text-to-speech, and the option to pause animations. Preset profiles are also available for specific needs, including vision-impaired, motor-impaired, cognitive, ADHD-friendly, colour-blindness and seizure-safe browsing.
Known Limitations
A small number of elements that use our brand accent colour may fall marginally below the recommended contrast ratio for small text. We prioritise legibility for body content and are reviewing these cases as part of our ongoing accessibility work.
Compatibility
This website is designed to work with current versions of major browsers, including Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, together with commonly used screen readers and assistive technologies.
