Magnanni Size Guide
Two things to know before you order Magnanni. It comes up large, so drop a size, and it is graded in whole sizes only, so there is no half size to fall back on if you are caught between two. This guide gives the EU to UK conversion, explains how the Stratus, Grafton and Lello differ, and tells you which way to go when the half size you want does not exist. Does Magnanni Run Big or Small?
Magnanni runs big. Size down one. If you are a UK 9 in most shoes, order the UK 8. Every Magnanni product at Union 22 carries the Big Fit indicator.
Worth saying that Magnanni is Spanish, not Italian, because people reach for the Italian-shoes-run-big rule of thumb and then wonder whether it applies here. It does, but for a different reason: these are dress shoes in construction even when they look like trainers, and dress lasts run long.
The house is a shoemaker first. The sneakers are built on the same constructions as the dress shoes, hand-finished in Spain, which is exactly why they size like shoes rather than like trainers.
The Union 22 Fit System
Every product page at Union 22 carries one of three fit indicators. It is an instruction about sizing, not a description of the style:
Magnanni Size Conversion: EU to UK
Every pair at Union 22 is listed with both EU and UK, for example EU 42 / 8 UK. Apply the size down after you convert, not before. Find your usual UK size, then take the next size down.

Note what is not in that table: half sizes. Magnanni grades in whole sizes only, so there is no 8.5 to take if the 8 is tight and the 9 is loose. Several of the other footwear brands we carry do cut halves, so do not assume one is there to fall back on.
Not every model is cut in every size. The size selector on each product shows exactly what we hold in that pair.
Stratus, Grafton, Sentro and Lello: Does the Model Change the Size?
No. Size down one across all of them. What changes is how much leather is in the upper, and that affects how much the shoe gives rather than what size to take.
What To Do If You Are Between Magnanni Sizes
This is the question that matters on Magnanni, because there is no half size to escape into.
Go down. The Big Fit indicator is there because the shoe runs long, and a Magnanni that is too large will slip at the heel in a way lacing cannot fix. A shoe that is fractionally snug in leather will settle; one that is loose will not.
If you are genuinely unsure, the knitted models give more than the leather ones. The original Stratus and the Grafton have the most knit in the upper; the Stratus III has the least. If you are ordering a Stratus III or the Lello and you are not certain, message us before you order rather than after.
